Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport pupils Celebrates Excellent Achievements in GCSE Result

Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport is delighted to mark the excellent achievements of our pupils in this year’s GCSE examinations. The results, which were released today, reflect the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our pupils, staff, and the broader Academy community.

Our pupils have excelled across a wide range of subjects, demonstrating not only academic prowess but also the determination to succeed in challenging circumstances, especially throughout key stage 3, where their experience of school was significantly disrupted by the pandemic.

Principal, Duncan Roberts, expressed immense pride in the pupils’ accomplishments:

“These results are a testament to the perseverance and commitment of our pupils. They have navigated a unique and challenging period with incredible resilience, optimism and humour, and it is wonderful to see their hard work reflected in these achievements. We are all so proud of them. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff, whose enduring support and guidance has been instrumental in our pupils’ success. I wish the class of 2024 all the very best with their future ventures; there is no ceiling to what you can achieve.

Special recognition must be made for a group of pupils for their remarkable achievements. Dominic Rodwell achieved 4 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and a grade 6. Furthermore, Kate Weston received 4 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and 4 grade 7s. Also impressive were the outcomes of Sahana Rajagopal with 4 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s and Phoenix Parry who achieved 5 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s. There were also several pupils who overcame significant barriers over the past five years that have made fantastic progress which we also value greatly.

Beyond academics, our students have also been recognised for their contributions to extracurricular activities, including sports and the arts. Our holistic ethos to education ensures that our pupils not only excel in exams but also develop into well-rounded individuals ready to take on future challenges who will flourish in whatever path they travel. The Academy looks forward to building on this success in the coming years, continuing to nurture talent and inspire excellence, developing our young people to become independent, insightful, inquisitive and imaginative adults in the future.
