Year 7 Students to Support The Maddi Foundation in Special Fundraising Event

On Thursday 2nd July, Year 7 students at Joyce Frankland Academy, Newport will be taking part in a special fundraising event in support of The Maddi Foundation.

The event holds particular significance for the school community. A few years ago, one of our students was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. Since then, her family has shown remarkable strength and dedication, working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds to support both Maddi and ongoing genetic research. As a school, we are proud to stand alongside them and support this important cause.

A Day of Community and Challenge

The fundraising day is designed to bring students together in a spirit of teamwork, compassion, and community.

Year 7 students will have the opportunity to:

• Wear their PE kit for the full day in exchange for a £1 donation
• Take part in a fun and inclusive “Lift for Maddi” challenge during Lesson 5, working within their tutor groups

The “Lift for Maddi” activity will focus on participation, encouragement, and shared effort, highlighting the importance of working together for a meaningful cause.

Students may also choose to gather additional sponsorship, with all funds raised going directly to The Maddi Foundation.

Raising Awareness and Celebrating Support

Photographs from the event will be shared on the school’s JFAN Facebook page and featured in the JFAN Connector newsletter, helping to raise awareness of the foundation’s work while celebrating the generosity and enthusiasm of our students.

Making a Difference Together

Events like this play an important role in helping young people understand the value of kindness, empathy, and collective action. By taking part, our Year 7 students are not only raising money but also demonstrating what it means to be part of a supportive and caring community.
