On Sunday, Mrs. Warwick, accompanied by Eliah and Harriet from Year 7, Maddie from Year 11, and Zara and Lily from Year 13, participated in the Remembrance Ceremony and service at St. Mary’s Church in Newport.

This event serves as a meaningful occasion for the Newport community, as well as anyone connected to it, to unite in remembrance and honor those who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today and for future generations like ours.

Time May Pass, But We Will Never Forget:  A tribute in Our Great Hall

This Remembrance Day, our JFAN students have come together to create a powerful and moving tribute to honour those who served and sacrificed in the great wars. In the heart of our Great Hall — where the names of fallen members of our school are etched into history — the clock now ticks again, marking time not just in minutes, but in memory.
Above the names, the old wooden balcony frames the installation. From its centre, the clock stands as a symbol of remembrance brought back to life. Flowing gently from the balcony to the ground below are hundreds of handmade poppies, each crafted by our students. These poppies represent individual acts of reflection and gratitude, cascading like a river of remembrance down to the hall.
We have named this installation “Time May Pass, But We Will Never Forget” — a reminder that while years may move forward, the legacy of those who gave everything remains rooted in our hearts. Each tick of the clock is a promise: we will remember.
We invite our wider community to visit The Great Hall if visiting the academy this month; we have included a few photographs below. It is our hope that this inspires remembrance, conversation, and connection — across generations and beyond our academy walls. I would like to thank the students and Miss Sharpe for giving us such a beautiful tribute.
Let this Remembrance Day be one where time stands still, if only for a moment, in honour of those who gave everything.
