Mobile Phone Pouches

Dear parent/carer

Mobile phone pouches are coming to JFAN students alongside other Uttlesford and Anglian Learning schools. Thank you to those parents who attended the presentations on 09/06/2026 and for your engagement and questions. For those parents who could not attend, the presentation has been uploaded to the Academy website. Below is a summary of the implementation timeline:

Phone pouches and unlocking boxes have been purchased by the Academy and we are awaiting delivery.
Parental presentations have taken place on 09/06/2026 in The Great Hall – the presentation has been uploaded to the Academy website.
A deadline for parental purchase via MCAS has been set as 17/06/2026.
Students will receive an assembly to explain their use and rationale on Monday 29/06/2026.
Mobile phones will be completely banned from the Academy site from Tuesday 30/06/2026. If students bring a mobile phone to school, it will have to be in a pouch.
For those students who will never have a mobile phone on them at school, a mobile phone contract will be distributed to parents in the next 2 weeks for parents and students to sign.
For students who need a mobile device to monitor a medical condition, medical pouches will be distributed to those students on Monday 30/06/2026. Parents should still purchase a pouch via MCAS.
Any families who are in receipt of the following are eligible to have the pouch fully funded: pupil premium grant, free school meals, service premium grant. Please make contact with Mrs Z McGonagle at the academy and she will provide you with support for this – zmcgonagle@joycefrankland.org
